Sporting Art

"Bufflehead On Burlap" was one of those paintings that I couldn't wait to get into the Gallery in the morning to work on. I'd put the birds up and paint for hours on those cold mornings in February after the season has ended. To look at these birds and remember the snowy afternoon in January that those butterballs whistled through the decoys and then tumbled into the snow, is what I think Sporting Art is about. Of course not everybody has the same memory, but to me Sporting Art is a way to facilitate the memory process.
